Daniel is the main character of the story. At age 8, Daniel lost his father, Joseph “in battle” and almost immediately after hearing the news, his mother, Estelle had a mental breakdown and became a mute.
With both parents “gone”, Daniel became a ward of the state and spend the rest of his childhood in an orphanage.
As a young boy, Daniel spent most of his time reading and researching the mysterious vampires, the Asasabonsam, also known as The Gray Ones. His obsession started at a very young age, continued on through his teenage years but peaked and died down early into his adulthood.
His obsession may have died down but it was never forgotten and comes to life just when he thinks that he has his life in order.
